What Paint Correction Does That A Wash Does Not

Auto detailing at Marty Logan's House Of Colour in Dallas is paint correction rather than a wash. The fine scratches you see under direct sun are in the clear coat, so we machine cut a small amount of that clear back until they are gone, then polish the surface until the reflection is sharp again.

Why Choose Us

Those Circles In The Sun Are Not Dirt

We Take The Scratches Out, Not Fill Them

Glaze hides swirl marks for a fortnight and then they come back. Cutting the clear coat removes them, which is why the result survives the next wash.

The same booth lighting, machine polishers and grading system used to finish a fresh repaint gets used on an existing finish.

We Can Tell You When Not To Do It

Clear coat is finite, and a panel that has already been cut hard cannot take much more. If correction is the wrong answer for that finish we will say so.

Estimates And Insurance

How A Correction Runs Here

Most swirl damage is put into a car by the wrong wash technique, one panel at a time, over years. It sits in the clear coat, which is why polishing wax over the top does nothing you can still see a month later.

How deep the marks run decides whether correction is worth doing at all.

  2. Step 2

    Machine Cut The Clear Coat

A controlled amount of clear removed until the scratches are gone.

  3. Step 3

    Refine And Polish

Progressively finer passes until the reflection is sharp instead of hazy.

  4. Step 4

    Final Inspection

Checked panel by panel under direct light before it leaves.

Questions We Get Asked

Detailing Questions We Get In Dallas

Is this the same as a wash and wax?

No. A wax sits on top of the scratches and hides them briefly. Correction removes a controlled amount of clear coat so the scratches are physically gone.

Will the swirl marks come back?

Not the ones we remove. New ones can be put in by the wrong wash technique, which is usually where the originals came from.

Can any paint be corrected?

Not all of it. Clear coat is finite, and a panel that has already been cut back hard has less to give. We check the finish before we quote and tell you if it is not worth doing.

Do you detail trucks and fleet vehicles too?

Yes. Detailing is one of the categories this shop is listed under, and fleet units get it as often as private cars.
